Childcare Program

Eureka Childcare Day Homes Offer:

This schedule is very flexible and is adjusted according to the children’s needs and interests (i.e. if a child is engaged in art or another activity when a snack is served they may finish their activity and will then be served their snack. Or, if we are engaged during scheduled “learning/circle time” the proceeding activity will be pushed back to a later time so that we may fully engage in the current activity unit until it is completed. The number one goal is learning and having fun.

It is important to mention we will follow the kids' needs for nap as well.

Welcome, Breakfast & Free Playing
Dayhome provider will welcome the children, help them finish their breakfast and give them free time to say hello to friends and play with them. This will help them to adjust before starting the program and to feel happy to start the day!

Circle Time
Dayhome providers will start the day with Circle time, also called group time. Circle time includes any time that a group of children are together for an activity. It’s a special time to share finger plays, chants, rhymes, sing songs, play rhythm instruments, read a story and participate in movement games and relaxation activities. Circle time is also a wonderful time to develop listening skills and develop attention spans, promote communication, teach new concepts and skills, and have fun.

During circle time, dayhome provider will introduce songs and will teach children days of the weeks, months of the years, the weather and daily the activities.

Library books to share- We want to have the connection; we are finding a family-dayhome connection where each kid can bring a book they found in the library related to the curriculum.

Show and tell- Kids will have the opportunity to bring a toy/material related to the topic of the week and share with friends to develop self-confidence and abilities to present.

Dance
Dayhome providers will dance with kids using a combination of songs, to reinforce each days learning and help with coordination and motor skills development.

Language
To enrich the children’s vocabulary, every week, dayhome provider will introduce words corresponding to the weekly theme.

Snack & Washroom Break
Dayhome provider will prepare delicious snacks and change the children’s diapers, or take them to the washroom depending on the child’s stage. Dayhome provider will use this opportunity to teach them about hygiene, like how to wash their hands before eating their snack and washing their hands after going to the washroom.

Outdoor Playing
Dayhome provider will promote outdoor activity with the children and suggest playing different games related to the week’s theme. “Playing outdoors is a form of exercise that promotes well-being and wholesome physical development. Children are naturally drawn to active play outdoors: it allows them to explore their environment, develop muscle strength and coordination, and gain self-confidence. Playing actively outdoors also increases flexibility, fine and gross motor skills and is related to the development of a wide variety of physical skills, including those involved in sports.”

Math
Playing with blocks and introducing math at an early age includes several benefits for the children. Dayhome provider will promote independent play with blocks and will introduce math by teaching them the numbers with fun activities.
Construction toys seem ideally suited to do just that. They may also help children develop motor skills, hand-eye coordination, spatial skills, and capacity for creative and divergent thinking, social skills and language skills.

Lunch & Washroom Break
Day home provider will prepare a delicious and healthy lunch and change the children’s diapers, or take them to the washroom depending on the child’s stage. Directors will use this opportunity to teach them about hygiene, like how to wash their hands before eating their snack and washing their hands after going to the washroom.

Story Time & Independent Reading
Day home provider will read a story about the week’s subject and then let the children explore the books. In doing this, the day home provider will encourage the habit of reading, they will learn the parts of the book such as the cover, back and spine. They will also learn how to pick up a book and how to hold it. Letting them play with books will also help develop creativity as they will create their own stories related to the drawings they see in the books.

Writing
Tracing activities to develop fine motor skills.

Quiet Time
Day home provider will take the children to the quiet time room, will provide them their blankets or any other item they need for their naps. It is important for children to take time to rest and regain their energy for the activities that will come next in the day.

Science & Sensory Skills
Sensory play includes any activity that stimulates your young child’s senses: touch, smell, taste, sight and hearing. Sensory activities and sensory tables facilitate exploration and naturally encourage children to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore. Spending time stimulating their senses helps children develop cognitively, linguistically, socially and emotionally, physically and creatively.

Arts/Crafts
Day home provider will run activities corresponding to each week’s theme using different types of materials, colors, and different techniques so that the children will be learning about the week’s theme in a fun way!

Free Play & Pick-up
Day home provider will let the children play and say goodbye to their friends while they wait for parents to pick them up.
