Our Approach

The Eureka Day Homes Approach to Child Development and Care

At Eureka we believe that all children are smart and they learn at their own speed. All children learn best when they are having fun and they deserve the chance to reach their potential with the tools they need without limit. Constructivist education concepts can be summarized as: interest, experimentation, reflection and cooperation.

The learning environment is focused on the students, based on their own interests, based on the Flight Alberta’s Framework Curriculum and experiences (individual and social) to reach new learning, seeking ways (methods) of "being together" with students instead of "doing for them.

Our Day home provider carefully observes the children in their day home to ascertain the developmental needs of each individual child. Then comes the task of preparing the environment and the materials in it to meet the various needs of the individual children within the group. As the children begin to make free choices and interact and discover the materials, the teacher facilitates and guides.
