Flight

Flight

Based on the Flight approach, the key elements of development are:
  1. The image of the child: A mighty Learner and Citizen
  2. Mighty learners: Nurturing Children’s Dispositions to Learn
  3. Responsive Environments: Time, Space. Materials and Participation
  4. Transition and Continuities: Supporting Children and Families through Change

Based on the Flight framework teachers articulate holistic play-based goals for children’s responsive care —well-being, play and playfulness, communication, literacies, diversity and social responsibility. These goals nurture children’s dispositions to Learn by playing and playfulness, seeking, participating, persisting, and caring.

The learning environment is focused on the students, based on their own interests, based on the Flight Alberta’s Framework Curriculum and experiences (individual and social) to reach new learning, seeking ways (methods) of "being together" with students instead of "doing for them.
